What is Botox?
Botulinum toxin is a purified protein that can block certain chemical signals from nerves that cause muscles to contract. Healthcare providers inject small amounts of Botox into specific muscles to smooth wrinkles, prevent migraine headaches and treat a wide range of other health conditions.
The most common use of these injections is relaxing the facial muscles that cause frown lines and other facial wrinkles, jaw shaping and muscle reduction.
How does Botox take effect?
Repeated muscle contractions from frowning, squinting, or raising eyebrows cause skin to furrow and fold, gradually resulting in facial lines. Botox prevents the release of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine, causing the injected muscles to relax. Effects are temporary but can last for several months.

How to Prepare
Before the Treatment
- Inform us of any Botox injections within the past 4 months
- Provide a list of medications and supplements
- Avoid blood thinners (Warfarin, NSAIDs) if possible
- Avoid alcohol 24 hours before the procedure
What to Expect
- Outpatient procedure — go home the same day
- Mild discomfort — procedure is over quickly
- Results visible around day 3–4, full effect at 10–14 days
